When I was a teen, one of my besties and I were inspired to start encouraging others with Bible verses. We had a great time getting together and choosing our favorites to share. We’d write each verse on about 50 cards, then mix them up and hand them out in school once a week to everyone in our youth group, plus some who weren’t. We did this for an entire school year.

I may have been one of the people writing out those verses for others, but I’m sure it impacted me more than my youth group. (Though there were stories of how those verses changed lives.) God’s word has this amazing way of growing me…but sharing God’s word is even more powerful. It has helped write God’s word on my heart, and made me want to hold on to it even tighter.

That simple act of passing around Bible verses stuck with me. I knew when I created this blog that I wanted to make my own “cards” to encourage you all. That’s the inspiration behind this series.

Today, I’m sharing a few verses to encourage you in serving your family. Because I know it can be a little too easy to grow weary of changing diapers or cleaning up messes or folding laundry or cooking meals…oops…this was supposed to be encouraging.

Well, I’ve been there too. While life as a mom and wife is wonderful and amazing and rewarding, sometimes keeping our household going gets a little tedious. Sometimes it’s the serving part of loving our family that is the hardest.

So here’s a little encouragement to serve others with joy and know what you’re doing is important. Keep it up, friend!

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
Colossians 3:23-24

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.
Romans 12:9-11

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
Psalm 28:7

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Proverbs 31:28-30

“And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”
Matthew 10:42

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.
Philippians 2:14-15

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Galatians 5:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13

Then he said to them, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me also welcomes my Father who sent me. Whoever is the least among you is the greatest.”
Luke 9:48

So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
1 Corinthians 15:58

I hope you’re encouraged and inspired today as you serve your husband, your kids, and others. Your work does not go unnoticed, and you are loved by a gracious and generous Father!
