I’d like to start out my Friday favorites by speaking directly to March, if you don’t mind.
Oh March, Thank you for getting here so quickly. Now please make sure February doesn’t come around again.
March just gets me.
So, I’m kind of excited that the month of March is here. Our February was crazy. We weathered all kinds of sickness, canceled plans, and the loss of a loved one too (Ry’s grandma). Needless to say, I’m so happy March is bringing change–a new season, warmer weather, St. Patrick’s Day, and my son’s birthday, to name a few! I got so excited I made a vision board for March.
This just makes me beyond happy.
What are you looking forward to this month?
This Month’s Verse and the Last Day of the Sale!
This year, I challenged myself to do something simple, but still really beneficial: I’m memorizing one verse a month. There are a lot of Bible verses that I (sort of) know by heart, but I wanted to be more intentional about it. I chose 12 verses to mediate on as well as memorize. I want to know them backwards and forwards, and by the citation alone. Here’s why.
“I know of no other single practice in the Christian life more rewarding, practically speaking, than memorizing Scripture. . . . No other single exercise pays greater spiritual dividends! Your prayer life will be strengthened. Your witnessing will be sharper and much more effective. Your attitudes and outlook will begin to change. Your mind will become alert and observant. Your confidence and assurance will be enhanced. Your faith will be solidified.”
-Chuck Swindoll, Growing Strong in the Seasons of Life
One verse a month is doable, even for me, and I know you can do it too! In order to encourage you to join me, I designed monthly scripture cards. I had to make them especially pretty, because that’s something that keeps me motivated. And, you can start when you want and go at your own pace. A few of the verses I chose are a bit seasonal (like a verse on thanksgiving in November) but you don’t have to go in order.
If you want to start with March and follow along, here’s this month’s verse. I love it!
Today is the last day of the sale. Grab them now for the kind of money you can find in your kid’s piggy bank!
I really don’t want this to become The Blog About All of Our Family Sickness, (ooh! Fantastically Flu! Fantastically Feverish! So many options.) but we spent this week fighting a battle with influenza B. One lifesaver was the fact that we purchased a month of YouTube TV just for the Olympics.
We set it to record every Olympic event, so we’ve been able to watch long after the closing ceremonies. It’s been awesome. My son knows the sick routine now–we cuddle up in blankets and he picks an event to watch, usually hockey. I love that I can easily fast forward through commercials. Sylvie even started to cover her eyes and say “Mersh! Mersh!” (Commercial!) when I didn’t get to the remote fast enough.
Truthfully, I don’t know how long we will stick with YouTube TV but we will definitely purchase it on a monthly basis whenever something big is happening that we can watch as a family.
Clorox Scentiva Wipes
You know it’s been a bad month when one of your favorite things is Clorox. I’m usually all about natural cleaners, and I make my own out of vinegar, water, essential oils, and a bit of hydrogen peroxide. But then we got hit with the flu, and it was one of those times I’d do anything to get rid of it! I’m not a fan of sprays that smell like death, so I was intrigued when I found theses wipes.
I actually love how they smell. I’ve been wiping off a million door handles, sink faucets, light switches…you get the idea. You can grab them at all kinds of stores or throw them in your Amazon cart. I’ve heard the coconut scent is great too. The key word here is Scentiva. And I checked, there’s no bleach in it. #notanad
My Favorite Pin of the Week
There were so many good ones this week! My favorite comes from Christa Sterken and is all about How to Be Welcoming When You Don’t Enjoy Hospitality. Christa tells the story of a particularly challenging moment of opening her home to others, and then passes along some wisdom about practical and spiritual ways to avoid the same thing in your life. Because hospitality is truly so much more in your attitude than in any of the logistics.
I’m on Pinterest here, if you want to see what else I’m pinning lately. I’d love to see what you’re pinning too!
Tell me what you’re loving this week. And have a happy Friday!
